WINES FROM SPAIN paired with classic SPANISH TAPAS and hosted in a spectacular private home that combines the best of traditional and modern Mexican style, including spacious outdoor entertainment areas spread over two floors.

Tapas, a centuries-old tradition in Spain, are small plates of flavorful bites served at bars throughout the country. These simple, spicy, salty, garlicky snacks are perfect with the wines and sherries of each region.

And no one better to choose those wines than Spanish-Mexican sommelier Fernando Almazán of Sommelier Express. Merida’s most in-demand sommelier fascinated us at the November Tasting with his knowledge and charisma. Fernando is back in January!

You must provide proof of COVID Vaccination in order to purchase a ticket to attend a MEL Wine Tasting. You may do so in person at MEL, or online through the library’s website.

Pay for your ticket using cash or credit card at MEL during regular business hours, Monday - Friday from 9 am to 1 pm. To purchase tickets online you must first register by uploading vaccination documents here: https://forms.gle/iaALFhpfgVb6GXU36

You will then have access to the payment page where payment is through PayPal.

The cost per Wine Tasting ticket is
$500 MXN for MEL members and
$600 MXN for non-members.

The venue location is a surprise, divulged at ticket purchase. It’s generally in Merida Centro or a neighboring colonia.

Tastings start at 7:00 PM and end at 9:00.

February 17, 2022: Wines from Italy. Elliot Diaz, a longtime friend of MEL Wine Tastings, returns with the wine selections. He partners with our favorite Italian chef, Luca of Casa Espejo Restaurante Da Luca.

March 24, 2022: A seasoned chef from Merida’s ex-pat community (you probably know her!) sharpens her knives to prepare the food portion of our tasting. We’ll reveal the wine theme closer to the date.
